How do other mums find the time to take care yourself?
My little girl is 9 weeks old and I’ve found I have almost no time to myself to look after myself. The only time I get is the 5 minutes in the shower before I go to bed, most the time I don’t even get five minutes because Emma starts crying and her father is a very deep sleeper and doesn’t hear her. I seem to spend most the day with my hair in a mess, my skin dry and wearing clothes that don’t even fit because I’ll just grab the first thing I can reach which is currently my old maternity clothes even though I’m now 5 pounds lighter than my pre pregnancy weight.
My partner has been working a lot recently, his job is just more demanding at the moment. He leaves early for work, comes home late and all he wants to do is sleep. He’s home maybe 6 hours at most and he spends most of that asleep because he’s exhausted.
One of the hardest things to adjust to as a new mom. My husband, was amazing with all of our children. He comes home from work, and takes over playing with the kids, basically until bed time, when he gives them a bath, reads a story, and tuck them in with me. He is awesome! Then, he is basically the one to get up if they do in the middle of the night. I think a big part of adjusting to parenthood, is having communication with your husband. Talk to him, and tell him how you need a little time for yourself each day!
Good luck!
