what are good products (affordable…im not rich X.X) i can use to clean my face every morning and night. and what is a good treatment or toner or whatever to prevent breakouts.

i am using sunscreen and do have a good moisturizer (cetaphil xD).
what is a good routine and good products to use

Congratulations on getting rid of your acne. Sometimes acne can be stubborn and difficult to get rid of. To avoid recurrences, the three step — “Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize” regimen really works.

The good news is you don’t have to get expensive products; Almay, St. Ives and Neutrogena (and other store bought products) are good brands to start with. I have really oily skin that’s really prone to blackheads (which can also cause acne) and I find that using a face towel in the shower (when pores are more open) with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil (which you already use ~ yey!) helps reduce blackheads. Use some pressure but do not rub so hard that you hurt yourself. Then do the rest of the three step care after you shower. Meaning, use a toner to help close up your pores, then apply a moisturizer to keep your skin from drying up and overly producing oil.

The face towel tip was a tip handed down from my grandma to mom (both maintained beautiful skin to their 60′s and 70′s) to me and it really helps. It will take some practice to find out what amount of pressure is right for you (I’ve been known to scrub too hard in my younger days – heh, heh) but it does work.

Any astringent at a Pharmacy/store will do. I actually use the CVS generic brand…My secret is, I mix equal amounts of the astringent with bottled water so it is not too harsh, but at the same time, it is still capable of doing its toning job :)

If you choose to use an exfoliator, it will also work well in the shower. This will count as the first step in the “cleanse, tone, moisturize” regimen. You can use pore strips if you notice blackheads getting worse, but if you do the face towel or exfoliator habit, you won’t really need them. If you use pore strips, use them before your shower because your moist skin could become too sensitive for application of the strips right out of the shower.

As for moisturizers, besides Neutrogena and Almay, Aveeno and Olay brands come to mind (I actually buy what’s on sale because they serve the same purpose to me). If your skin is oily, just look for a non-greasy formulation :) Remember too, a common mistake is that people overdo application of moisturizer. A pea size amount or even less is enough to do its job. Just put the amount in your palm and dab on your forehead, cheek, nose and chin then spread on your skin evenly and allow it to be absorbed. If your skin is still very slippery after a few minutes then you know you’ve used too much.

The secret to avoiding blackheads is keeping your face clean. If you use makeup, moisturizer, sunscreen or anything else on your face, keep in mind it is VERY important clean your face at the end of the day.

Every now and then, try treating yourself to a self-spa :) Michelle Phan’s aspirin mask on YouTube is very effective. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-Hksg8B4cQ
I like to do it every other week (but rarely do) but once a month is actually good. Mix the aspirin with your Cetaphil (I use Walmart’s genetic version of Cetaphil) and it works great!

As you can see. Skin care is very flexible and need not be expensive. I hope you can use some of this information and find lifelong habits you can incorporate in your skincare regimen.

Have fun and think beautiful! The more you like what you’re doing; the more you’re likely to do it!
